The RSCM is encouraging talented young singers from across the UK to join the BBC Young Chorister of the Year competition (see the RSCM website for details).

The competition aims to affirm and encourage the contribution that young people make to choirs and music groups in places of worship. The two winners, a boy and a girl, will each receive a trophy, lessons from a leading singing coach, and opportunities to sing on radio and television.

The final of this prestigious contest will be held in St. Paul's Cathedral London, and broadcast on BBC Radio 2, and one of the judges will be Lindsay Gray (Director of the RSCM).

The deadline for entries is 31st July 2009, and relates to choristers in the UK.
