News Story ~ Northern Ireland Committee
February 28, 2010
The new RSCM committee for Northern Ireland has now met for the first time under the leadership of the Very Revd Dr Hugh Kennedy, Administrator of St Peter's Cathedral in Belfast. Following her move back to Belfast, Rachel Adams continues in her role as Secretary, but for Northern Ireland only. Michael McCracken takes on the role of Treasurer. We welcome to the new committee Nigel McClintock as Education and Training Officer and Emma Gibbins as Young Persons' Officer. We are delighted that Jonathan Ireland has agreed to take on the vital role of Publicity Officer for the new committee, liaising with our web-editor, Richard Bloomfield.
Our thanks also to Richard who has agreed to continue as web-editor on an all-island basis and as publicity officer for the Republic of Ireland. Awards Administration on the island will remain with Fraser Wilson until June 2010 by which time we hope to have appointed an Awards Administrator for Northern Ireland. During 2010, we hope that continuing dialogue between the two committees, through the co-ordinator, Peter Parshall, occasional joint committee meetings, and a focus on the Area Working Groups will ensure a strong and active RSCM presence on the island. Our thanks go to all those who give so willingly of their time and talents in support of the RSCM's mission.
Our next project will be to renew the committee membership in the Republic so that we can continue to offer a programme that has a good mixture of training and education events, as well as social ones. Please do bear with us whilst these changes are enacted.
