News Story ~ RSCM Ireland Festival Day 2018

October 20, 2018

On Saturday 22 September, we were delighted to welcome a number of singers (including successful Voice for Life candidates) to the RSCM Ireland festival service. The now annual festival day has become an important event in the RSCM Ireland calendar, bringing together singers from all over Ireland.

This year the theme was the Kingship of Christ using the 2018 RSCM festival booklet 'King of Glory, King of Peace' which commemorates the 90th anniversary of the RSCM. The festival book includes a wide selection of hymns and songs, and a choice of choral items suitable for full SATB choir as well as those with more limited resources.

The service was held inSaint Bartholomew's Church in Dublin and was directed by Peter Barley, director of music at St Mary's Cathedral, Limerick and accompanied by David Leigh, Organist at Saint Patrick's Cathedral.

During the service successful Voice for Life candidates were presented with their certificates. This year, we were delighted that nearly 40 candidates were successful in the Bronze and Silver awards, from Saint Bartholomew's Church, Dublin, St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Dublin, St Fin Barre's Cathedral, Cork and St Nicholas' Collegiate Church, Galway.
